mumbai photo courtesy of mr. brian mcmorrow
it was like a scene from a movie. i was livid, pulled out my baggage from the inside of the taxi. i just arrived in mumbai from delhi, after an overnight train journey. after agreeing on a price of 150 rupees to go to my hotel of choice, i was suddenly told that i would have to pay 600 rupees! indians are always like this all through my travels in this subcontinent. it's so hard to get a gentleman's agreement from their word coz they always try to take advantage from tourists. and they wont even bat an eyelash quoting 300% more than the usual price. so, exasperated, i pulled my baggae out and left the taxi in a huff - shouting in the middle of the road - while everyone was watching me. NOW THAT will teach them a lesson! Shame on them! I wasn't born yesterday - if they thought they'd get anything more than 150 from me. It was just so tiring dealing with them!
I like Mumbai though. It's a very sophisticated city, and pollution isn't as bad as Delhi. Also, being situated in the southwest of the subcontinent, the weather is actually warm - a major change and a relief from my travels in the northern cities. The buildings are colonial and art deco styled. It was a pleasure to learn that my hotel (which had a great view of the Mumbai harbor and bay) was just a 200 meter walk from their major attraction - the Gateway of India, which was constructed to comemorate the visit of King George in the past.

Add to myYahoo! I have too much going on in my head to read right now cos the Scissor Sisters are bringing so many good memories to the fore.
Dude! I am so sorry I have been a crap friend this year.
j-in-da-ko-to. I've been crap with you, too.
I have been a crap friend. Crap crap crap.
But I was, now I realise, clinically fucked up.
I am better now.
I see colours in the world again.
I crave music again.
I am sleeping better.
Ne, today I was staring at the river for ages and all of a sudden I saw an incredible bank of flowers. I was like, 'How the fuck did I miss those flowers?'
Which is how I feel now. 'How the fuck did I lose it these past few/many months?'
Bye bye shitty approach to life.
Hello happiness.
I have so much energy again. I want to do stuff. I also see a bright future. One of my making. I will lead. I'm too much on track to get pushed off by insecurities. I love feeling confident again.
Meeting Kazuyo today and chatting for hours outside in the beautiful sunshine was so uplifting. To be with a true friend and to talk about so many things and well, it's hard to explain, but Kazuyo is The Friend for me in Japan. She is awesome.
We were laughing about so much but also spoke deeply about stuff. She told me that she tells me things she feels she can't share with others; and it's not even wild stuff; it's just being able to talk about all that she loves in live, embraces in life, without feeling selfish or bad about it. You see, in Japan, it can get kinda weird. Folks live and do stuff but a lot of the time it's rare to find folks who really let rip about their passions or interests. But Kazuyo does, with me, that is.
She truly is awesome.
As are my other close friends who I have neglected this year.
You are all awesome.
I will make it up to you in 2009.
I promise.
p.s This cd is soooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo great. It reminds me of Thor and the boat and fun, fun, fun times.
I love it.
