Add to myYahoo! This year, I've seen Pangasinan quite often. During the latest trip to distribute Northbound Magazine, we drove again fron Tarlac all the way to Bolinao. Along the way, you could stop by the churches of Mangatarem, Aguilar, Salasa, Lingayen, Alaminos and finally Bolinao. We stayed at Puerto del Sol for the night. It's definitely the best hotel in Bolinao. We weren't able to pass by Patar Beach or Tondol Beach anymore the next day since we wanted to[...]

Add to myYahoo! So I'm a total sellout lemming, I'm aware. (Btw, Lemmings don't actually jump off cliffs in mass quantities, its a hoax...that Walt Disney made up for a documentary). I originally got an iPhone because I was convinced I would perish as a New York fashion intern without it....which I was right about. I think back on all the situations I was in where this little wonder of a contraption saved my ass and I take a deep breath and thank the fates. Some apps are completely useless, but they entertain me on a childish level and therefore I keep them around. However there are apps that are quite savvy, educational and pretty much make my life easier by the minute. And they're FREE. Which is weird and irksome.
1. Weatherbug - iPhone already has a weather app with standard install, however this one has radar, alerts, videos and updated photos. I can also plug in multiple locations to keep track of.
2. Facebook - Try not to think about it. Or justify it. Just do it and feel less guilty about it later when you realize that you can look up a friends contact info via their FB profile on your phone.
3. Around Me - Road trip worthy goodness. This one finds me the nearest gas station, coffee supplier, ATMs and much more. It's pretty convenient when your gas tank is nearing the menacing orange notification light and you just realized you have to pee.
4. Snaptell - Wow I wish I had this in college when shopping for the semester's textbooks, but it's also really handy during the Christmas shopping season or other holidays. Take a picture of the cover of a book, CD, or DVD and find how much it is, where you can get it cheaper and other items by that author/artist. I also use it to keep track of all the books I need to read.
5. Shazaam - I use this EVERYWHERE. Basically it identifies songs. So what's so great about that? I can hold it up to a commercial on tv, a song on the radio or one being played at a club and Shazaam not only tells me what song it is and who sings it...but also the exact remix, an artist bio, where to download it and a link to twitter/facebook about it.
6. UrbanSpoon - Shake, shake shake senora, Shake your body round! It's only compatible with major cities, but it finds a restaurant for in the area, price range and cuisine your in the mood for. Sometimes I can't make up my mind about what to eat, so I let the Spoon decide. You can shake the phone to use the slot machine "chooser" or search manually. Direct me, Oh Spoon, to great sushi.
7. Italian by Lastminute - this is only one of three language apps I possess. It teaches me all the basics and it comes with audio pronunciation so that I can make sure I say it correctly and not embarrass myself. Or, if I'm being particularly lazy, I can just hold it up to the language incompatible person and let the app do the talking for me. Don't judge.
8. ESPN Cameraman - This one always seems to make me the most friends. I think because it can be a group activity. It's a modern spin on the classic Highlights game. Two duplicate sports photos, one with minor changes you have to discover before the time runs out. But if you lose, a crowd boo's you. Shut up, I tried my hardest.
9. Lightsaber - its completely pointless. But I refuse to give it up! It's not everyday you can say that you had an i Phone lightsaber fight on the way to a New Years Eve party in a taxi with 2 guys. I also used it to entertain a 10 month old baby we were trying to keep from crying at an engagement party. It worked. Because lightsabers are awesome. End of discussion.
10. Cardstar - I used to have a ton of those key chain tabs for store discounts back in the day (back in the day = 2004). Drugstore, bookstore, art supply store; I had at least 2 for each category. Cardstar logs in the barcode number and store into the program to come up with a scan-able bar code via your phone. As in, Borders scans your screen and you get 15% off of the new Dan Brown. (Don't deny it, I know you read those)
