Shanghai Travel : Zhou Zhuang

If you are planning a weekend trip away from Shanghai, Hangzhou, SuZhou and maybe Nanjing are some possible destination. If you are planning a day trip do consider Zhou Zhuang if you havent been there.

Zhou Zhuang is between Shanghai and Suzhou, 30km away from the latter. Its easy enough to go there on your own without a tour guide or group and small enough to cover in a few hours.

The city is surrounded by lakes and its waterways and stone bridges. Most of the houses there are a few hundred years old and is open to the public. It is an interesting getaway for those in Shanghai interested in having a feel of an ancient city in China without travelling to say, Shenyang or Xi-an. For photo bugs, theres plenty of subjects relating to anicent China to shoot as well.

How to get there?

You can buy a ticket and take a bus from the travel center next to Shanghai stadium. Ticket pricing is about RMB150 which includes the bus and entrance ticket. The bus ride is about 90 mins. First bus starts at around 7 am the last at near to 11 am. The last bus back to Shanghai is 5 pm from there.
